Are you new to Boulder Bikram Yoga? Welcome! You are in the right place to get healthy and feel great. Just in case you have any stress or anxiety about what to expect from your first class, we've got some great tips that will have you feeling right at home from the get go.
Ideally all new students please arrive 15-20 minutes before class to register and find a spot.
"Do" wear what you will be most comfortable sweating in and moving in. Hot yoga is sweaty!
"Do" drink plenty of water before and after every class.
"Don't" eat a heavy meal before class begins (2-3 hours before). If anything, have a light snack.
"Do" bring a yoga mat, large towels and a water bottle with you. Or you can rent or purchase these things at the school.
Later you can decide to leave out the water if you choose but please have it as a beginner.
"Do" bring your own lock if you want one. We have locker rooms and showers for a quick rinse after class.
In addition to these tips, we ask that you come to class with an open mind!
You may not be able to perform all postures at first; don’t be discouraged! Your body will improve!
Listen to your instructor and work at a comfortable pace; with a little practice and experience you’ll quickly feel right at home!
We encourage all new students to come back for their second class the next day — especially if you wake up sore; sore muscles are good for you and following up with another class will assist in conditioning the muscles and advancing the healing process.
We can't emphasize enough how important it is to stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water before class and after class. If you are properly hydrated, you will not need to drink too much water in class.
And that's it! You are ready to start your Bikram Yoga adventure, no question your yoga friends will have additional yoga tips and stories they want to share with you. In the comments tell us if you have any advice for new students that we missed.
Peace love and YOGA!!!
